In your car, it’s a good idea to keep a flashlight (with working batteries), a small first aid kit, a plastic bottle of water, glucose tablets, some nonperishable snacks, and a pair of sneakers (in case you have to get out and walk). In cold weather, you may also want to keep some extra clothes and a blanket in your car. However, do not plan on keeping a blood glucose meter and strips or insulin in your car; car temperatures can get very hot (and very cold), which will make strips inaccurate and insulin ineffective.
