Symptoms of diabetic ketoacidssis include excessive thirst, dry mouth, frequent urination, and fruity-smelling breath (ketones have a fruity smell). Later, more dangerous symptoms can include nausea and vomiting, abdominal pain, confusion, weakness and fatigue, and shortness of breath.
