In need of a little diabetes inspiration? Then be sure to check out the “You Can Do This Project.”
Created by diabetes advocate Kim Vlasnick, who has had Type 1 diabetes since 1986, the You Can Do This Project is a grassroots video movement that aims to “show others that there can be light after the darkness; that they can get through the tough times.”
The project features people telling their stories of how diabetes has affected their lives — what it was like being a teen with the condition, how it felt to be diagnosed as an adult, the ups and downs of caring for a child with diabetes, and more. Participation in the project is open to anyone affected by diabetes, including family members, caregivers, and significant others.
You can check out some of the top videos below, and many more are available on the You Can Do This Project Web site and the official YouTube channel.
Ready to submit a video of your own? Head on over to the You Can Do This Project Web site for information on how to get started.
