Has reading Joe Eldridge’s blog about training for professional bike races the world over inspired you to become more active? Good news! You can participate in a challenging ride of your own. The American Diabetes Association sponsors an event called the “Tour de Cure,” which is being hosted at various locations in 43 states. The fund-raising ride raises money for the ADA to support research and is not a competition.
Cyclists can create or join a team, and choose from varying ride lengths that best suit their goals. Those riders with diabetes are distinguished by their red jerseys. You can also volunteer to support riders by helping with registration and support stations throughout the course. To find out where the tour is organized near you, you can visit the “Where We Ride” page. You can also donate to the ADA’s effort and fund-raise online.
