What We’re Reading: Health Videos Online

You are probably familiar with YouTube, the popular Web site that allows people to post videos online. But it’s not only individuals who post. Health-care companies have gotten into the act as well, setting up their own "channels" and providing videos on diabetes and other health topics.

Just recently, the pharmaceutical company Sanofi-Aventis launched a YouTube channel called GoInsulin.[1] The videos on GoInsulin highlight personal stories of people with Type 2 diabetes who have found success using insulin[2]. Johnson & Johnson also has its own YouTube channel,[3] with over a hundred videos on a wide range of health topics.


Over at DiabetesMine,[4] Amy Tenderich is not sure how she feels about the recent trend, fearing that when health-care companies and social media mix, it can blur the line between health information and marketing. Read her comments here[5]. What do you think?
