What We’re Reading: Free Diabetes Workshops

Text Size:

While there are many great online resources for the diabetes community, we are always happy to bring you news of workshops and other events. As part of a greater effort from the Ontario Diabetes Strategy program, the Toronto Central LHIN will host two “Living a Healthy Life” workshops. The program “aims to provide individuals with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to effectively manage their diabetes,” covering topics such as healthy eating, exercise, stress and pain management, goal setting and problem solving, and how to effectively communicate your needs to family, friends, and doctors. Anyone with, at risk for developing, or caring for someone with Type 2 diabetes is welcome to join these free workshops; however, registration is required.

The first workshop will take place from June 21 to July 26 on Tuesday evenings from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM, while the second will run from June 28 to August 2 on Tuesday mornings from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM. Each free workshop will have 12–15 participants and run for six weeks. To find out more or to register, please contact Firdaus Ali, Toronto Central Diabetes Self-Management Project Coordinator (not affiliated with DiabetesSelfManagement.com), at [email protected] or (416) 461-3577.
