What We’re Reading: Free Diabetes Informational Recordings

The Diabetes Partnership of Cleveland has updated and revised two informational recordings — winners of the Allene van Son Award in 2005 for outstanding diabetes education materials — that cover the American Association of Diabetes Educators 7 Self-Care Behaviors[1].

-- Keep an eye on your vision! Learn about preventive steps and treatments for diabetic retinopathy from retinal specialist Dr. Charles Wykoff. >>

These two recordings, called “Diabetes: the Basics” and “Living With Diabetes and Visual Impairment,” are now available for free download[2] in MP3 format (scroll to the bottom of the page to download or order). They cover topics such as what diabetes is, how to monitor your diabetes, exercise and healthy eating, coping, problem solving, and taking medicines.

Those who have both diabetes and visual impairments (or other print disabilities) can request a free copy of the recordings on CD or USB. Call (216) 591-0800 for more information or see https://www.dagc.org/visimp_form.asp[3] to order online.
