What We’re Reading: Earth-Friendly Pod Disposal

Insulet — the makers of the OmniPod insulin pump — has created the first earth-friendly pod recycling and disposal program. The Eco-Pod program allows pump users to return up to 50 used pods at a time for the company to either break down and recycle or properly dispose of as hazardous waste. The process focuses on reclaiming and recycling metal components like batteries while non-recyclable elements are ground down to reduce their impact on landfills. At this time, the program is only for those living in the United States.

To participate in this program, you can call (800) 591-3455 to receive shipping labels, biohazard bags, and FedEx Shipping Paks. To find out more, you can read the Eco-Pod Program FAQs[1] or visit Insulet’s Web site[2].
