The beginning of a new year is a time when many people resolve to change themselves in some way — to lose weight, eat more healthfully, or begin an exercise program, for instance. But, as reported by an article in The New York Times, research shows that up to 80% of people who make resolutions at the start of the year have reverted to their old ways by Valentine’s Day.
Perhaps you began the year with good intentions for your diabetes control but, with all of life’s little intrusions, find yourself on track to be among this 80%. If so, a contest over at the blog Diabetes Mine may be just what the doctor ordered: Blogger Amy Tenderich is holding an essay contest that will give three people the chance to try, at no cost, Insulite Laboratories’ Diabetes Advanced Management System for three months. The purpose of the system is to provide people with diabetes a support network while also helping with diet and exercise.
Winners of the contest will receive weekly health protocols via e-mail that include content such as lifestyle tips, sample menus, and access to information on the latest diabetes research. Winners will also have online and, if desired, phone contact with Insulite’s Consulting and Advisory teams, and they’ll additionally have the option of receiving various vitamins, minerals, and herbs from Insulite Labs. Furthermore, the three chosen contestants will have the opportunity to share updates on their progress with readers of Diabetes Mine.
Essays, which must be 500 words or fewer, should describe your diabetes-related New Year’s resolution and explain why you think you’d be a good candidate for this program. Entries should be submitted by February 10, 2009 and can be e-mailed to Tenderich via the link in this blog entry. Tenderich, along with representatives of Insulite Laboratories, will be choosing the winners — two with Type 2 diabetes and one with Type 1 diabetes — with the results announced on February 17, 2009.
