“Riding on Insulin” Ski and Snowboard Camps

If you have a child with diabetes who loves skiing or snowboarding, you may be interested in learning more about the nonprofit organization “Riding on Insulin: Sean Busby’s Ski and Snowboard Camps for Kids Living With Diabetes.”

Sean Busby is a professional snowboarder with Type 1 diabetes who was diagnosed while training for the 2010 Olympics. Inspired by stories from the JDRF’s Children’s Congress, Sean founded “Riding on Insulin” which hosts ski and snowboard camps around the world for children ages 7 to 17 who are living with diabetes, as well as their siblings.

The camps are open to all ability levels and help children learn how to manage their blood glucose levels while dealing with various humidity, altitude, and climate conditions. Groups are divided by ability level, with novice participants primarily spending the day on the beginner slopes learning the basics while more advanced groups explore the mountain.

For more information about the camps, including answers to frequently asked questions and a list of events scheduled for this year, visit the “Riding on Insulin” Web site[1].
