Want to raise money for JDRF, the leading global organization funding Type 1 diabetes research, and make a child’s dreams come true at the same time? Then you’ll want to check out the “Our Everyday Heroes” Race Car Design Contest for JDRF!
The contest, which is hosted by Motorcraft/Quick Lane Tire and Auto Centers, encourages children ages 5–18 who have Type 1 diabetes to create a design for a drag race funny car. In the first round of the contest, which is open now, members of the community have the opportunity to vote for their favorite design by making a contribution to JDRF. A second round of voting for the top 10 entrants will be open from April 25 through June 6 at noon EDT, with the champion being announced on July 18. The winner will have the chance to attend the Mile High NHRA Nationals in Denver from July 18–20 and to see his design featured on the Motorcraft and Quick Lane Racing Ford Shelby Mustang Funny Car, driven by professional racer Bob Tasca III.
“It really is an honor to help spread the word about JDRF and tell the story of what these kids deal with on an everyday basis. Their strength is inspiring and the race car designs these kids come up with are just amazing,” Tasca notes.
Over the course of its six-year history, the race car design contest has raised more than a quarter-million dollars for JDRF.
