Last week, I posted about the discontinuation of the Deltec Cozmo insulin pump (“Deltec Cozmo Pump Discontinued”). In that blog entry, I included information about the “Medtronic Cares Program,” a special offer from rival pump manufacturer Medtronic created to encourage current Deltec customers to switch to a Medtronic pump.
But as blogger Jan Chait pointed out in a comment on that blog entry, Medtronic isn’t the only company offering such a deal. Animas and OmniPod have special offers out there for Cozmo users, too; read on for more details.
In a Web page titled “A Special Message for Deltec Customers,” pump manufacturer Animas (a Johnson & Johnson company) introduces the “Animas Access” program. Under this program, for the next 90 days, people can switch to a recertified (refurbished) OneTouch Ping pump for $900. They can also trade in their current pump for a rebate of up to $700, and the warranty that remains on their old pump will be honored by Animas. The price also includes one month of OneTouch Ping cartridges and infusion sets. You can find out more about this program at www.animascorp.com/For-Deltec-customers.aspx or by calling (877) YES-PUMP (937-7867).
OmniPod also has a three-month special offer (ending July 31) for Deltec Cozmo customers who are interested in switching to their system, which consist of a disposable insulin-filled “Pod” that is attached directly to the skin for up to 72 hours and a “Personal Diabetes Manager” (PDM) wireless handheld device that controls the release of insulin into the body. The company is offering an OmniPod Starter Kit with a brand new PDM and a month’s supply of pods starting at $49.99. Check out www.myomnipod.com/support/Cozmo or call (866) 941-4579 for more information.
Or, as Jan Chait wrote in her comment, you can “just sit back and wait to see what else comes along,” especially if you have some time left on your Cozmo warranty.
