If you’re looking for an inspiring atmosphere and expert advice to help you kick-start your efforts to manage your Type 2 diabetes[1], you’ll want to check out the upcoming “Diabetes Wellness: From Menus to Mindfulness” weekend at Mohonk Mountain House in New York’s Hudson Valley.

Taking place from April 8–10, 2016, the program will be led by Nina Smiley, PhD, Director of Mindfulness Programming at Mohonk Mountain House, and Jennifer Stack, a registered dietitian nutritionist and certified diabetes educator. The weekend will “offer techniques that support wellness, including mindfulness meditation and strategies for making smart food choices and being more active.” Highlights of the event include learning how to create a diabetes-friendly kitchen; finding out how to control calories and carbohydrate while still eating foods you enjoy; practicing eating mindfully; and focusing on the role that food choices, mindfulness, and exercise play in controlling your diabetes.

Rates for the weekend begin at $274 per person, per night based on double occupancy or $444 per night based on single occupancy. The price includes three meals a day, along with most resort activities, such as hiking and nature walks, swimming, tennis, boating, and fishing.
