Reading through the diabetes headlines is not often an uplifting experience, but this story might just make your day: To support his 8-year-old brother Jacob, who has Type 1 diabetes — and to help raise funds to find a cure — a 9-year-old Australian boy named Sebastian has written “Believe,” a song that encourages his little brother to overcome the obstacles in his path and strive for his dreams. The video for “Believe,” starring Sebastian, Jacob, and their sister Caity, can be viewed here. The song is also available for download from www.sebastianmusic.biz for $0.99 AUD (roughly $1.12 USD at the current exchange rate), with net proceeds being donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

In the words of Sebastian, “Believe in what you have within you; The dreams you have will see you grow.”

Thanks for posting this link Diane. Well done Aussie kids, Sebastian, Jacob and Caity! Good Diabetes management needs the support of family members in everyday life and especially at fun and activity times. Understanding is the most important ingredient. I was lucky growing up with Type1 Diabetes as my older sister was training to be a nurse and was a source of knowledge, given with loving care. It’s not easy going, though now at the milestone of 45years with Type 1, I can say that I live a happy and relatively healthy life.
