Inpatient provides 24-hour medical supervision and intensive treatment. It can be important for achieving medical stability and improving diabetes management as well as help the patient with “giving up control.”

Partial hospitalization provides intensive therapy during the day and extra support during meals anywhere from five or more days weekly.

Outpatient therapy is appropriate once the patient is more medically stable. This consists of one or more appointments per week with members of the treatment team.
