The volume of a piece of fruit (in this case a slice of cantaloupe) can be estimated by comparing it to an adult’s fist. Since the volume of the edible part appears to be slightly larger than a fist, and a fist equals about 1 cup, the portion can be estimated to be about 1 1/4 cups.
