THE COST OF DIABETES

What's your biggest diabetes fear? As nurse David Spero notes in his latest entry, for many people, the fear of not being able to afford needed medicines or of being reduced to poverty by medical expenses tops their list of worries. Even those who have health insurance are not always able to afford the drugs that would work best for them, and many people are currently without any health insurance at all. But there are some resources that can help if you're having trouble affording medical care. To learn more about them, read "Paying for Diabetes," then leave a comment to let us know what financial impact diabetes has had on you.
Those of you who inject insulin will also want to check out diabetes dietitian Amy Campbell's recent blog post on the key recommendations to come out of a workshop on injection techniques. Is it necessary to "pinch an inch"? Must injections be painful? Find out here.
And if you've ever lost an important piece of your diabetes equipment, you'll be able to commiserate with Eric Lagergren on his recent entry, "Lost It."
Best,
Diane Fennell, Web Editor
