Numerous national, state, county, and city agencies have been set up to help Americans prepare for and deal with disasters. Check your local office of emergency management for information specific to your area.
This Web site offers information on putting together an emergency supply kit, making a family emergency plan, and making a business emergency plan. It describes the different types of emergencies that could occur and appropriate responses to them. It also has contact information and links to state and local emergency management and homeland security offices.
