Type 1 Diabetes for a Day
November 24, 2012
Curious to know what your friends and loved ones with Type 1 diabetes deal with every day? Then you’ll want to check out the “T1D for a Day” campaign from JDRF.
As part of the campaign, you will receive up to 24 text messages over a 24-hour period simulating the blood glucose monitoring, injections, and decisions that people with Type 1 encounter on a daily basis.
According to JDRF, “While no virtual campaign can recreate the many needles required or the physical and financial tolls of this serious disease, T1D for a Day seeks to deepen understanding of the many heroic steps our friends and loved ones with T1D take each day.”
For a more thorough look at the campaign, watch the video from radio host and blogger Buzz Bishop on this page.
To sign up for the campaign, text T1D4ADAY to 63566, or click here to sign up online. You will receive a confirmation text to complete your registration. When you sign up by 4 PM, the program will begin the following day.
Participation in T1D for a Day is free, but standard messaging rates apply.
