Students With Diabetes Internship Program Accepting Applications

It’s that time of year again: the Students With Diabetes Internship Program is accepting applications.

Students With Diabetes is an organization founded by former Miss America Nicole Johnson, who has Type 1 diabetes, to “create a community and connection point for young adults with diabetes ages 18–30 on both college campuses and in local communities across the country.” The group is offering internships in a variety of sectors within the diabetes community, including nonprofit management, research, sales, marketing, and advocacy, to provide young adults living with diabetes the skills necessary for a career in the field.

At least 25 internships will be awarded. Requirements for participation include being a full-time college or graduate student between the ages of 18 and 25 who has been living with Type 1 diabetes for at least one year. Interested parties must submit an application (available for download here), a letter of support from a health-care provider, a letter of recommendation from a professor or employer, proof of academic enrollment, and a resume. Applications are due by February 10, 2014, and awards will be announced on March 15, 2014.
