Send Us Your Recipes!Ingrid Strauch January 8, 2009 After 12 years of editing Diabetes Self-Management magazine, I am adding “blogger” to my resume and joining the DiabetesSelfManagement.com bloggers for occasional posts. My role will be to keep Web readers up to date on what’s happening in the magazine, and to share with magazine readers what’s being discussed on the Web. Since the start of the New Year is often a time for recommitting to a healthy lifestyle, I’d like to share with you a feature of the magazine that can help you follow through on your resolutions. It’s called Recipe Makeovers, and in each issue of Diabetes Self-Management, research dietitian and home chef Sandy Bjerkness, RD, LD, transforms a recipe submitted by a reader to make it more nutritious and “diabetes-friendly.” In the January/February 2009 issue of Diabetes Self-Management, for example, Sandy takes on Creamy Shrimp Fettuccine, slashing calories and fat by nearly a third! Consider this your invitation to send in one of your favorite recipes for a makeover; send it to editor@rapaportpublishing.com. Recipes that are selected will be published in the magazine and posted here as well. Comments:
Of course, the carbs in a fettuccine dish are more likely to be of concern to a Type 2 than the calories or the fat...

Hi Tamrat,
A good place to start learning about diabetes is with the articles in our "Diabetes Basics" section. You may want to start with the article "What is Diabetes?" and progress from there to read up on issues that interest you in more detail in other sections.
Good luck.
