This week, the blog Diabetes Mine announced its second annual "DiabetesMine Design Challenge." Cosponsored by the Internet journal MedGadget, this is a contest to see who can design the most elegant, forward-thinking, and practical device for diabetes management. It is open to all individuals and groups, and one winner each will be chosen from "under 18" and "18 and older" categories.
Contestants must create a video, using either animation or live action, featuring the imagined product, which must be an original idea and less than six months old. The video should be less than two minutes long and describe what the product is used for, how it works, and how it looks and feels in as much detail as possible.
Each winner will receive $1,000, a workshop with a design consulting firm, and free access to the Health 2.0 Conference this fall in San Francisco.
