What We’re Reading: Young Voices Unite

Web Team

This election season, visiting the voting booth isn't the only way to make your voice be heard. Thanks to the online video campaign “Young Voices: Life With Diabetes,” teens and young adults with Type 1 diabetes will have a chance to share their personal stories with a national audience and describe how they think the next president can change the future of diabetes.

The purpose of the campaign, a joint effort by Novo Nordisk, Discovery Health, Discovery Education, and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), is to provide a platform of support for young people who are simultaneously dealing with diabetes and the transitions that adolescence and young adulthood bring. For each submission, Novo Nordisk will contribute funds to JDRF, up to an amount of $25,000.

Videos should be approximately one minute in length and must be submitted to www.DiscoveryHealth.com by October 24, 2008. There is no fee for sending in an entry. Ten videos will be chosen and posted for a vote on the Web site around the first week of November; the top entries will be featured at the World Diabetes Day Young Voices: Life With Diabetes forum to be held in New York City on November 14, 2008.
