Diets Do Work?

Does eating fewer calories help people keep extra weight off? Or does it just make people feel deprived, leading to a "boomerang" effect of more binge eating and weight gain down the road? A new study published in the American Journal of Health Promotion has examined these questions and found that cutting calories may actually be a good way for middle-aged women to keep the extra pounds at bay.

Diets Don’t Work?

See, I told you I was right! Exercise is important! A WebMD article by Carolyn Wilbert recently reported on a Danish study of 154 overweight people. First, they lost weight on a strictly controlled diet. Then they were followed for six months on diets containing varying amounts and types of fat and carbs.

2008 is Gone. Good.

A-n-d, 2008 ended with a miserable cold. If I lay down, I started coughing and my head stuffed up so that I felt as if I was drowning. I could sleep in my nice, soft, comfy, oversized chair. However, even when I started out with my feet on the ottoman, they somehow found their way to the floor on their own and I would wake up with ankles the size of New Jersey.
