Joining a support group can help you adjust to a gluten-free diet and give you the satisfaction of knowing you are contributing to celiac disease research. Benefits of membership may include newsletters, recipes, online message boards, updates from food manufacturers, and referrals to health-care professionals in your area. You do not have to be a member to access information from most groups’ Web sites, and most also offer free pamphlets that can be ordered by phone or via the Internet.

The Celiac Support Association has a network of over 125 chapters in the United States that provide educational services to people with celiac disease and their families. Membership includes a quarterly newsletter, Lifeline. Some recipes and information sheets are posted on the Web site.

The Celiac Disease Foundation Web site offers general information about celiac disease, contact information for support groups, and details on current clinical trials. Benefits of the annual membership fee include a quarterly newsletter.

A Washington-based nonprofit organization, the Gluten Intolerance Group regularly holds educational meetings. The group also hosts a summer camp for kids with celiac disease. A gluten-free cookbook can be ordered from the Web site; online information packets are also available.
