Everyone knows that reading a diabetes blog gives you insight and information that may help you manage your diabetes. But Diabetes Mine blogger Amy Tenderich says that writing a blog can be helpful as well. At least it was for her. She explains why blogging was such a boost to her diabetes management in a recent Newsweek.com article, "A Healing Blog."

In the article, Amy traces her story from her diagnosis with Type 1 diabetes at the age of 37, to her frustrating search for online resources, and finally to the launch of her diabetes blog. She discusses the vibrant online community of diabetes bloggers and blog-readers who have provided her not only with information about her condition, but also with the consolation that she is not alone in dealing with it.

Amy has also written for Diabetes Self-Management. Her article “Avoiding Complications: Nurturing Your ‘Health Bank’” is available on DiabetesSelfManagement.com.

This blog entry was written by Assistant Editor David Golann.

  1. I’ve ready Amy’s blog since I was diagnosed as a T2. I blog myself about my condition once a week. It does help.
